every one and no one

I’m driving again

Past those impassive chimneys

Last time I was here

You were close by my side

But now it’s just me

Driving through heavy darkness

It seemed somehow then

You could spin me elsewhere

But now

All I can feel

Is darkness closing around me

All I can sense

Is the absence of touch

All I can see

Is the light in the distance

And all that I want

Is you here next to me

She tells me so wisely

It’s time to release you

I know she is right

But I’m scared to let go

If I give up on hope

Will I sink into blackness?

It’s a delicate curtain

Keeps out empty night

And now

All I can feel

Is darkness closing around me

All I can sense

Is the absence of touch

All I can see

Is the light in the distance

And all that I want

Is you here next to me

So if you don’t mind

I’ll keep you here for a short time

Lock you into my soul

Just for a while

I promise I’ll free you

One day when I’m ready

But I need someone to be here

Before I let go

Because

All I can feel

Is darkness closing around me

All I can sense

Is the absence of touch

All I can see

Is the light in the distance

And all that I want

Is you here next to me
